Have you thought about what you want your legacy to be? On the day that is your last on earth, what will you have given that lasts beyond your life? Perhaps you will have given enduring values that will serve your family for generations. Perhaps you will leave a name that is respected and inspiring. Perhaps you will leave a testimony to people in your community and around the world of your great love, trust and worship of Jesus.

Have you also thought about what you want your legacy to be with regard to the things you have accumulated over your life? Perhaps you have a house, a car, a retirement account, a business, an investment that will remain on that day that is your last on earth.  Have you thought about a way to express your values in the way that you plan for the distribution of your assets?

Some members of NRHBC have taken steps to plan for the distribution of their assets to persons and organizations that will continue to extend the gospel of Jesus for generations to come. Wouldn’t it be exciting to know that some of the things that you have worked to accumulate over a lifetime could be used beyond your lifetime for the things you value most?

NRHBC and Cross Church has begun a Legacy Giving Ministry to help church members think about their own legacy. Some people simply don’t think about including their church in their will and estate plan. This Ministry is designed to create an opportunity for believers to honor the Lord by giving a legacy from a portion of their accumulated assets to support the ongoing and future ministry of the church.

Some people don’t want to think about their estate planning at all. The Legacy Giving Ministry wants to encourage you to think about, pray and take action to create a will if you do not have one. Consider the admonition in 1 Corinthians 14:40 which teaches us: “But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.” This would include a fitting and orderly plan for your estate that will result in harmony and protection of your family and the extension of your values throughout future generations.

NRHBC and Cross Church is partnering with the Southern Baptists of Texas Foundation to create an orderly, accountable system to advise, coach, accept and manage funds that are given to NRHBC and Cross Church through wills and estate plans. The Foundation can also be helpful to church members who would like to consult with a trusted advisor regarding their own unique estate planning issues.
